It’s heavily due to its very affordable price (see current price).īut, there’s plenty of affordable audio interfaces out there. This is not only due to the great value the 2i2 offers for beginner producers. The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is dominant in the market for audio interfaces, and one of the best-selling pieces of studio gear of all-time. The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface

UPDATE 6/19/20: On the evening of 6/15 I tried the last thing I could think of. I restarted the zoom app and then the audio was fine for the remainder of the day all the way until about 4pm. My audio was coming through clearly to everyone at the start of the deposition today at 10AM, but when I needed to jump in and announce the end of the video (roughly 90 minutes later) I was informed by the other participants that my audio was coming through choppy. UPDATE 6/15/20: Sadly, the issue has not been resolved. It's been really tedious having to restart the client and rejoin the meeting 2-4 times per day! Hopefully the reduced buffer size fix works because I've tried everything else I can think of. I have been having this same intermittent issue in my Zoom depositions all week.

I do videography for legal depositions and have been using my Sony ECM-44B lapel mic with the Scarlett 2i2 Gen2 on Zoom depositions.

I removed the Focusrite driver and just used the default Windows driver before I serendipitously found your comment, and now that I'm doing some test recordings I haven't had the clicks/skips/etc.

It was not something that I could reproduce 100% of the time, it would behave just like the playback issue where once it showed up, it was persistent, until I either unplugged my USB or restarted the Windows audio service.

That led me to believe it was a separate issue from the audio playback issues I was having originally, but adjusting the sample rate back down to 44.1k hadn't fixed it. Additionally, I noticed it come up in recordings where I only recorded desktop audio, and didn't hear the distortion from my music while it was originally playing - only in the recording. I was recording myself in Streamlabs OBS to mix my audio and I noticed the crackling start to appear in my recordings. So the issue I'm having now is that I recently got an XLR mic (specifically a ModMic with their XLR power converter) that I can use with the interface, and found that the issue also impacts the mic. It would still happen from time to time, but not often enough anymore that it was too much of a nuisance to unplug/replug the USB cable or restart the Windows audio service. I also noticed an improvement in sound quality when I did this so I was happy to leave it that way. I started to get this crackling issue a while back, maybe a year ago, when just listening to music or watching Twitch streams, and I was able to make it happen much less often by actually increasing the sample rate which seems kind of counterintuitive. Yeah, I use the Scarlett Solo 2nd gen as my DAC unfortunately.
